- Fortnite Switch 2 edition will run at 60 FPS on both handheld and docked.

- The replay system is being added, alongside many other improvements.
Epic Games revealed the full list of marketed improvements for Fortnite’s Switch 2 Edition, which includes 60 FPS, high resolution settings, and greater view distances. Fortnite on the Switch 2 supports 2176×1224 docked and 1600×900 undocked, while on the original Switch the typical resolutions were 1560×880 docked and 1170×660 handheld. Frame rates were capped at 30.
Here are all the marketed improvements, according to the official Fortnite website:
- 60 FPS!
- Higher resolution (2176×1224 docked, 1600×900 undocked)
- Greater view distances (See more things in the distance!)
- Higher-quality textures, higher-quality shadows, and higher-quality water rendering (nice water)
- Clothing physics enabled
- The Replay system is here — relive your best Battle Royale matches from another perspective!
- Capture video clips using the Capture button
- GameChat* supported — stream your Fortnite gameplay with up to three other friends
- For the hardcore tech folks: full “desktop” renderer, high-detail geometry, distance field ambient occlusion in docked mode, shadow casting point lights, high-quality effects
- Mouse controls supported with Joy-Con 2 (Starting June 7)
In commemoration of their Switch 2 version of Fortnite, Epic Games is handing out a free “Get the Wishing Star” emote for Switch 2 users. The emote can be unlocked until March 31, 2026. Logging onto Fortnite for the first time on the Nintendo Switch 2 yields the reward.
Fortnite on the original Nintendo Switch struggles to keep up with its contemporaries. The core gameplay mechanics remain intact, but many visual and performance compromises are made to allow the port to function properly.
Loading the battle royal game mode on the Nintendo Switch yields very little opportunity to emote in the loading menu – the game often loads multiple seconds into the drop phase.
