- He left EA in 2011 to join Zynga.
In a Reddit post published on June 2, the Maxis studio acknowledged the death of the co-creator of The Sims, Tim LeTourneau. The announcement mentioned how the Maxis is a family, and to many of them, LeTourneau was the true father of that family.
“Making a Sims game is incredibly difficult and takes hundreds of thousands of hours from hundreds of people in many disciplines. Tim’s job was to see that it all came together, that people were treated fairly, and that the fans got the best game we could deliver. He did all of that and more, with a big smile and a dose of his generous laughter,” the statement said.
LeTourneau was credited as a producer, senior producer and executive producer of a number of The Sims games. Notably, he was the senior producer of The Sims 2 and an associate producer of the very first Sims game.
He left The Sims Studio in 2011 and joined Zynga as its studio vice president, eventually becoming chief creative officer by 2012. In 2014, he left the studio to become the chief creative officer of Storm8 but returned in 2016 to become Zynga’s SVP of games for a short amount of time.
In 2017, he moved to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, where he worked until 2021. His final workplace was Fortis Games, where he assumed the role of a senior advisor.
