The next game from the studio behind Stellar Blade and Goddess of Victory: Nikke has been officially unveiled.
According to Shift Up’s website, the new IP is a flagship subculture cross-platform game that embraces the concept of “Eastern Fantasy.” Titled Project Spirits, the game is already in development. Previously known as Project Witches, this new game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5.
The news comes on the heels of Shift Up confirming that Stellar Blade will be receiving a sequel before the end of 2027 and ahead of an upcoming collaboration between the studio’s top two titles, Stellar Blade and Goddess of Victory: Nikke.
As of February 2025, Shift Up announced that Stellar Blade had sold over 2 million copies worldwide since its release on April 26, 2024. The game has since been bolstered by regular updates, including crossover DLC with Nier: Automata, holiday-themed content, and new gameplay modes — all of which the developer has promised will be included in the PC version, set to release on June 11, 2025. However, the upcoming PC port has encountered blocking issues in over 100 countries.
The company’s other title, Goddess of Victory: Nikke, launched in 2022, has surpassed $1 billion in global revenue from its mobile versions alone and has been downloaded over 45 million times worldwide as of February 2025.
Notably, in April 2025, the CEO of Shift Up, Kim Hyung-tae, had joined Korea’s Top 50 Wealthiest People. He debuted in 46th place with a net worth of $725 million.
