- UK Retailer GAME has canceled some Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders without providing any reason why.
- This isn’t the first time something like this has happened with the retailer.
- The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out on June 5.
Game, a UK retailer dealing in video games, has canceled some Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders, according to an X post the store has published. It added that it’s currently working to reinstate the affected orders.
Despite this, the retailer did not provide any reason for the pre-order cancellations, nor did it mention a time when the orders would be reinstated. GamesIndustry.biz’s report regarding Game’s cancellation of Switch 2 pre-orders also notes that this isn’t the first time something like this has happened with the retailer.
In 2024, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 pre-orders were delayed, resulting in players not being able to play the game at launch. Now, it seems that the same is happening to the unlucky buyers who were affected by the Switch 2 pre-order cancellation, as the console is set to release a week from now.
Another report from GamesIndustry.biz revealed that the majority of Game’s head office staff was laid off in 2024. The layoffs happened as the retailer was getting fully integrated with Frasers Group in August 2024. A source estimated that around 78% of the retailer’s head office staff was let go.
Nintendo’s newest console, the Switch 2, is coming out on June 5. Japanese retailers have been preparing for its release and have also put restrictions in place to fight off scalpers.
