Voice Actor Accidentally Confirms Persona 4 Remake in Bluesky Post

- Voice actor Yuri Lowenthal says he won’t reprise his role as Yosuke in a “Persona 4 remake.”
- The domain p4re.jp was registered in March, following Atlus’ typical remake announcement pattern.
- Persona 4 first launched in 2008 and remains one of Atlus’ most globally successful titles.
A remake of Persona 4 appears all but confirmed after voice actor Yuri Lowenthal let slip that the project is in development. In a post on Bluesky, Lowenthal wrote, “And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake. I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back.”
Atlus has not officially announced the game, but evidence has been mounting for months. In March, fans discovered that the domain p4re.jp had been registered, following a pattern that mirrors the studio’s previous remake titles. The domain p3re.jp was registered ahead of the announcement of Persona 3 Reload, which went on to become Atlus’ second fastest-selling game with over 1 million units sold in its first week.
The p4re.jp domain was updated in April, transitioning to Atlus-owned nameservers. Similar updates occurred shortly before the reveals of games like Persona Q2, Catherine: Full Body and Persona 5 Royal.
Originally released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2, Persona 4 received an expanded version, Persona 4 Golden, which was later ported to PC and Nintendo Switch, contributing to the series’ international popularity. As of 2024, the Persona series has sold over 22.6 million units worldwide. The latest mainline entry in the series, Persona 5, was released in 2017. Atlus’ newest RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio — which shares similar mechanics and visual style — launched in late 2024 and became the studio’s most successful title to date, selling over 1 million copies on launch day.
