- Star Wars Battlefront II achieved its highest concurrent Steam-based player count of 18,635.
- The record was achieved on May 26, 2025, more than seven years after the title’s initial release.
- The actual player count for the title is much higher, but other platforms do not readily present player counts.
Star Wars: Battlefront II achieved its highest concurrent Steam-based player count to date; the record of 18,635 players was achieved on May 26, more than seven years after the title’s initial debut. The total number of Star Wars: Battlefront II players is much higher than the projected figure, since the game is available on PlayStation, Epic Games Store, and Xbox – player counts aren’t readily available on other platforms.
The previous highest number of Steam players recorded before the recent return to popularity was 10,489 – the figure was achieved more than four years ago.
With the increased popularity of Star Wars Battlefront II, the community is once again banding together to ask for Battlefront III. After seeing a thread on the r/Starwarsbattlefront, an ex-developer for Battlefront II gave his input on the realistic possibility of another entry to the franchise:
“Hear me out – no Battlefront 3 right now, but Battlefront 2 remaster for whatever future console is arriving in 2027-28. Dev time is around 2-3 years. There is a laundry list of improvements that this game could get in my opinion, and getting it updated was always on our wishlist.
Once that is a success, then we start work on 3. You have a team familiar with engine, assets, and really could kick off developing a 3 within a much shorter time span, and working on feedback from a fresh Battelfront 2 audience base. This would be a 5-6 year plan, but it’s far more likely to be a success.”
Rebellions are built on hope in the Star Wars canonical universe, and hope is all the Battlefront II community has left. Star Wars Battlefront II was released on Nov. 17, 2017. The title was notorious for its pay-to-win mechanics on launch, but has since been significantly improved upon.
