Google launched their AI video generator Veo 3 on May 20, 2025 – the release was announced as a part of Google’s I/O 2025 conference. A user on X shared a video of a Fortnite clip made purely using Google’s Veo 3. The clip has a fake content creator as well who reacts to the gameplay and talks with an eerily lifelike voice, according to IGN.
“Woo! Victory royale with a pickaxe!” the AI streamer exclaims. AI specialist Matt Shumer entered the following prompt into Google’s Veo 3: Streamer getting a victory royale with just his pickaxe.
Shumer claims Veo 3 used the context of pickaxe and battle royal to assume the clip should be made by referencing Fortnite as a source, despite not explicitly stating the game by name. The project is part of Google DeepMind, which prioritizes building AI responsibly to benefit humanity.
The AI is not limited to creating fake streamer content; it can be used to create normal gameplay as well for other titles. Google’s Veo 3 is currently in limited early access – US subscribers of Google AI Ultra subscription plan can access the technology, but it is not readily available for free public use.
Epic Games also added AI directly into Fortnite, allowing players to converse with Darth Vader while fighting in the battle royale.
