Junya Ishizaki, director of Elden Ring Nightreign, revealed in an interview with IGN that they’re currently looking into duos as post-launch content. According to him, the developers totally overlooked the possibility that there might be people who enjoy playing duos.
While walking to IGN about his experience being a director of an Elden Ring game, he was asked about the reason why players can only play solo or trios. The interviewer, Mitchell Saltzman, pointed out that if players queue as duos, a third person will always join the group.
Ishizaki said that this is because they simply overlooked the possibility. The team has been developing the game to focus on three-player or one-player runs. As such, the game is currently only balanced for those two situations. However, they’re currently considering it for post-launch support.
Elden Ring Nightreign is an action role-playing game with roguelike elements. It’s a spinoff of Elden Ring and puts players in either a solo or a three-person quest of defeating the instance’s final boss. The game is set to release on May 30, 2025, for the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
