- Fortnite for iOS is ranked first among all free games in the app store within the United States.
- Fortnite mobile rereleased for iOS devices on May 21, 2025.
- The mobile iteration caused legal friction between Epic Games and Apple.
Fornite’s iOS iteration is currently the top downloaded free game, according to Apple’s United States app store. In anticipation of the mobile port’s success, Epic Games is holding a 20% rewards event on select title purchases on PC, iOS, Android, and the web.
Fortnite mobile rereleased for iOS mobile devices on May 21, 2055 – this was after Epic games had an extended legal battle against Apple. The Silicon Valley tech company attempted to block Fortnite mobile’s reintroduction to the app store, delaying the rerelease on multiple occasions.
On April 30, Epic Games won a lawsuit against Apple for anticompetitive practices in the App Store. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney stated on social media that Apple delayed the approval of Fortnite for several days. Epic Games and Apple have been entangled in a prolonged dispute ever since Epic introduced in-game purchase options that bypassed Apple’s standard payment system, a decision that led to Fortnite being removed from both the App Store and the Google Play Store on Android.
Fortnite Mobile is a direct port of Fortnite, thereby allowing for cross-platform play. The mobile port’s return came during the middle of the Fortnite x Star Wars collaboration event, which has two more major updates coming. The next is “Mandalorian Rising,” which arrives on May 22. “Star Destroyer Bombardment” lands on May 29. This all leads up to the ultimate “Death Star Sabotage” on June 7.
