Team Spirit defeated Astralis 3-1 to win the PGL CS2 Major in Astana, securing the $200,000 top prize. The tournament, held from May 10 to 18, featured 16 teams competing in a Swiss-format group stage followed by single-elimination playoffs,
with a total prize pool of $625,000.
This victory marks Spirit’s first major title since their win at the Perfect World Shanghai Major in December 2024. Earlier in the year, they reached the grand final of IEM Katowice 2025 but were defeated 3-0 by Team Vitality.
Team Spirit’s lineup at the PGL Astana Major featured Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov, Boris “magixx” Vorobyev, Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotja, and Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov, with Sergey “hally” Shavaev as coach.
At the PGL Astana Major, Spirit went undefeated in the group stage with 2-0 wins over GamerLegion, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Astralis. In the playoffs, they continued their strong performance, defeating NiP 2-0 in the quarterfinals, FURIA 2-1 in the semifinals, and overcoming Astralis in the final.
Astralis, featuring a Danish lineup with dev1ce, stavn, jabbi, Staehr, and HooXi, made a notable run to the finals, eliminating NAVI and Aurora Gaming along the way. Aurora Gaming secured third place by defeating FURIA 2-1 in the consolation match.
