The development team of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link announced it was canceling the project. According to the memo it put out, the team determined that it would be hard to create a “service that players would find satisfactory over a long period of time.”

The developers then reaffirmed their commitment to Kingdom Hearts 4’s development, saying that they are hard at work and hope that the fans will continue supporting the series despite the news of Missing-Link’s cancellation.

Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link was an action role-playing game for mobile. It was announced on April 10, 2022, during the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary event. Following its announcement, a number of closed beta tests were conducted. The last one happened from May 2, 2024, until May 10, 2024.

In November 2024, the development team announced it was delaying the release of the game. They posted the announcement on X but did not set a new release date. The next post on their X account was the recent announcement of its cancellation.

Kingdom Hearts 4 is Square Enix’s next major release for the franchise. It was announced back in 2022 and will be developed using Unreal Engine 5. Square Enix did not mention a release date during the announcement.
