Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been rescheduled for release in 2026, moving from its original 2025 launch window. The announcement was made by game’s developer Skydance Games via post on X (formerly Twitter) account.
The game’s story is inspired by the 2010 Marvel Comics limited series Black Panther/Captain America: Flags of Our Fathers and set in an occupied Paris during World War II, following a story of American super soldier Steve Rogers (Captain America) allying with Azzuri (Black Panther), the king of Wakanda, as they attempt to prevent the rise of the terrorist organization Hydra.
The upcoming action-adventure title will offer players an ensemble of four characters to control: besides main protagonists Captain America and Black Panther, will be available Howling Commandos member Gabriel Jones and the leader of the Wakandan Spy Network, Nanali.
On July 29, 2024, Skydance partnered with Plaion to publish Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra which was first time jointly announced by Skydance and Marvel Games in October 2021.
The game is the first project for the Skydance Games headed by Amy Hennig, an American video game writer and director who previously worked on Jak and Daxter and Uncharted series, the latter of which she created for Naughty Dog.
