Atlus West published a Twitter post teasing the global release of a mobile game set in the Persona 5 universe called Persona 5: The Phantom X. While the game is already released in certain Asian territories, until today, there was no information on whether it would be released globally.
The post contained a simple caption with an image showing a calling card design prominent in Persona 5. However, instead of “Take your heart,” it said “Retake your desire”. Additionally, the logo isn’t that of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, but one used by the protagonists in Persona 5: The Phantom X.
The game was first revealed in March 2023, but was already teased as far back as 2021. During that time, it was only confirmed to be released in China. Persona 5: The Phantom X was released in open beta in April 2024. Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and South Korea got the game a few days later.
Also in 2024, Atlus announced that the game would be released in Japan. However, the studio did not provide a release date. Instead, a live stream is planned for May 15, 2025, which will touch upon it.
Persona 5: The Phantom X is a spin-off of Persona 5, a JRPG developed by Atlus and released in 2016. The spin-off is developed by a subsidiary of Perfect World Games called Blang Wings Game Studio. As of writing, it’s available on PC, Android, and iOS.
