Warner Bros Discovery Q1 2025 Reports revealed that the company’s game division sees a revenue decline of 48% (excluding foreign currency effects).

The report states that primarily it happened as there were no releases in Q1 2025 comparable to the launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in the same quarter last year. It is also noted in the report that the company lacks a higher carryover from Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat 1 as it was in 2024, which, by the way, still continue to accumulate revenue.

The company also declared that “Games content expense decreased 66% ex-FX, primarily driven by the prior year quarter impairment related to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and lower games revenue in the current quarter.”

On top of that, Warner Bros highlighted the success of A Minecraft Movie, based on the best-selling video game in history, as it has grossed almost $900 million in global box office sales.

As for the revenue for Warner Bros overall during Q1 2025, it totaled $9 billion, showing a 9% decrease year-on-year.

It is worth noting that according to Warner Bros’ Q4 and full-year 2024 financial results, the company experienced a 29% year-on-year gaming revenue decline in Q4.
