Key points
  1. Killing Floor 3 is set to release on July 24 after a delay from its original March launch.
  2. The delay allowed developers to implement feedback from the closed beta, focusing on UI, animations and design improvements.
  3. The series began as a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 before evolving into a cult co-op shooter franchise with millions of players.

Tripwire Interactive has revealed that Killing Floor 3 will now launch on July 24, following a delay from its originally planned March release. The studio says the extra time has been used to address player feedback gathered during the game’s closed beta, with changes focused on UI, animations and overall design polish.

“Since delaying the launch of Killing Floor 3, we’ve dedicated the additional development time to responding to the community’s feedback,” said creative director Bryan Wynia. “We’re making sure the next chapter in the franchise lives up to our shared vision.”

The upcoming co-op FPS is set 70 years after Killing Floor 2 and once again pits six players against hordes of grotesque bioengineered monsters known as Zeds.

The Killing Floor series began in 2009 as a retail expansion of an Unreal Tournament 2004 mod. Killing Floor 2, released in 2016, received generally favorable reviews, with Metacritic scores ranging from 75 to 79 depending on the platform. The game developed a strong cult following, with millions of players and consistent support through seasonal updates and limited-time events over the years.

Tripwire previously promised post-launch updates for Killing Floor 3, including a major rework that will separate perk classes from characters. Additional developer diaries are expected ahead of the July release, detailing how the studio is incorporating player feedback into the final game.
