Key points

  1. Toby Fox announced that Deltarune will support cross-buy functionality for both PlayStation and Nintendo platforms.
  2. This means that PlayStation buyers get both PS4 and PS5 versions, while Switch 2 buyers also receive the standard Switch version.
  3. The complete version of Deltarune is coming out on June 5.

Toby Fox has announced that Deltarune will support cross-buy functionality for both PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms. Players who purchase the game on PlayStation will receive access to both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions, while those who buy it on the upcoming Switch 2 will also gain access to the standard Switch version.

Additionally, the Switch 2 version of the game is coming out on June 5 at midnight local time. This means that Japan will be able to play it first, assuming that they will be able to get a Switch 2 at launch. Those in the United States will be able to play the game a bit later, with up to 13 hours of gap for those on the East Coast.

DELTARUNE is coming to Nintendo Switch 2

The Steam, PlayStation 4, and Switch versions of the game will come out at midnight on June 5 in Japan. However, this will be a simultaneous release. Here are the release dates for other time zones in North America:

  • June 4th, 8 AM PDT
  • June 4th, 11 AM EDT
  • June 4th, 5 PM CET

Regarding Cross-Buy, Japanese players might be surprised to find that the other version of the game isn’t free. Toby Fox mentioned that this is normal. Apparently, they are required to charge a small fee under local laws in Japan. It’s unclear whether this will affect both the PlayStation and Nintendo families of consoles or just one of them.

Deltarune’s first chapter was first released on macOS and Windows in October 2018. The game operates on an episodic release, with Toby Fox releasing them per chapter. However, with the Nintendo Switch 2’s release, the game’s chapters 3 & 4 are coming with it, essentially completing the game.
