Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the formation of TeamLFG, a new internal studio formed by developers originally incubated at Bungie and now folded into the PlayStation Studios lineup. Headquartered in Bellevue, Washington — home to Bungie, Valve and several other major gaming and tech companies — the team includes industry veterans who’ve worked on titles such as Destiny, Halo, League of Legends, Fortnite, Roblox and Rec Room, alongside fresh talent.

In a blog post on Sony’s website, the studio said its mission is to build games “where players can find friendship, community, and belonging” — in other words, multiplayer action games with a strong social component. The name “TeamLFG” stands for “Looking For Group,” a term commonly used in online games when players are searching for teammates or party members.

The studio’s debut project is a team-based action game drawing inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims and something the developers refer to as “frog-type games.” It’s set in a “lighthearted, comedic world” within a new mythic science-fantasy universe. No release date or additional details have been announced.

The news comes after a rough year for Bungie, which laid off hundreds of employees, canceled projects, and delayed its extraction shooter Marathon following mixed feedback from a closed alpha.
