A new free story pack called “The Works of Luis Frois” comes to Assassin’s Creed Shadows as part of Update 1.0.4, according to the official release notes on the game’s Steam page.
Ubisoft hints that meeting with Luis Frois at a Jesuit Mission will become a chance for a protagonist to help an old friend. Following the narrative of “The Works of Luis Frois,” playable with both Naoe or Yasuke, players will retrieve lost notes, protect Lady Satoko and learn more about the Jesuits. To begin this quest, users will need to visit Azuchi and find Luis south of the Merchants’ Quarters. The quest option will unlock after completing “The Path he Walks” on Yasuke’s Board.
The update Update 1.0.4 lands on May 6, 2025, on all platforms at 2 pm UTC / 10 am EDT / 7 am PT. The patch sizes will be as follows: PS5 – 4.67 GB, Xbox Series X|S – 20 GB, macOS PC – approximately 9 GB, Windows PC – 17 GB, and Steam – 8.5 GB.
Developers also added character bios in the Codex database to help players keep track of the multiple allies and foes users meet throughout the game.
Patch notes state that several general issues have been resolved, including a bug where selecting “Go to board” for “Complete Yasuke’s personal journey” did not properly redirect to Yasuke’s quest board. Access issues with certain trinkets in the Forge and visual customization problems with some weapons have also been fixed. A visual glitch with the Red Bull trinket when switching between Yasuke and Naoe has been corrected as well. Additional fixes address multiple AI and audio-related issues.
Environmental interactions have been updated so that all props near altars or religious buildings are now static and indestructible. The excessive spawning of deer on main roads has been fixed. Merchants will no longer offer duplicate items in shops, and purchasing and equipping headgear will no longer eject players from the merchant menu. The blacksmith now appears correctly in the hideout, and trinket access issues in the Forge have been resolved once more.
Besides that, various stealth mechanics have been refined. The Improved Ground Assassination skill now works as intended, and assassinations properly damage unconscious enemies. A bug where Naoe couldn’t switch weapons after a double assassination with the Katana has been fixed. Yasuke’s Brutal Assassination now triggers correctly, and Kunai now properly functions with Guaranteed Assassination. Exploits involving smoke bombs and stealth kills on bosses have been resolved. Other fixes address crouch speed after sprint dodging, delays in crouching post-aim, camera inconsistencies in corner cover, and alarm bells incorrectly respawning after cutscenes.
Combat perks and abilities have also been balanced. The Igan Sunset Tanto’s slow-time perk has been modified to avoid infinite slow motion. Snake Bite (Kusarigama) now costs the correct amount of adrenaline, and Crescent Strike (Naginata) now deals damage on its first hit. Various perk malfunctions have been fixed. UI behavior during combat has been improved, including auto-closing letters during conflicts and correcting dodge issues when Naoe attacks Ashigaru Swordsmen. Additionally, the ability wheel now reflects current equipment correctly when unarmed.
