Japanese player Mashita “acola” Hayato from Zeta Division won Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament Kagaribi 13, a singles tournament that took place in Saitama, Japan, on May 4-5, 2025.
Kagaribi 13 became one of the most prestigious Super Smash Bros. tournaments of all time, with over 2,500 registered competitors, including 44 of the LumiRank 2024.2 top 50. On top of that, 86 players from the top 100 of the LumiRank 2024.2 were in attendance.
Raru, formerly known as Rarukun from Soleil Gaming, took second place, while Miya from Fennel and Tweek from Luminosity Gaming took third and fourth places, respectively.
Notably, due to Japan’s strict gambling laws, which prohibit esports tournaments from offering cash rewards, the prize pool at Kagaribi 13 was $0.
Besides that the scale of Kagaribi 13 has prompted LumiRank, the official Smash ranking service, to establish a new “Super Premier” category and tournament tier specifically for the event.
