Hoyoverse has officially unveiled its new Honkai IP game, Honkai: Nexus Anima. The project is set to be an urban fantasy RPG, blending spirit companions, auto chess-style combat, and immersive exploration mechanics.
Following their common strategy of securing social media handles, Chinese game developer Mihoyo and its global subsidiary Hoyoverse already created a pull of X (formerly Twitter) accounts for the upcoming new game, including @HonkaiNA, @HonkaiNA_RU, @HonkaiNA_FR, and more.
Honkai is a video game franchise developed by Mihoyo, published by Mihoyo in mainland China and worldwide by Cognosphere (trading as Hoyoverse). Initially, the franchise was led by Cai Haoyu, but since 2017, David Jiang has taken over the role of series producer.
The series originates with FlyMe2theMoon paid mobile game for iOS released in 2011, with the shaping of the Honkai series started in 2012 with the release of Houkai Gakuen, also localized as Zombiegal Kawaii. The series also includes Houkai Gakuen 2, also localized as Guns GirlZ, and Honkai Impact 3rd, with the most recent main entry, Honkai: Star Rail.
Notably, Genshin Impact, the most successful title produced by Mihoyo/Hoyoverse, which has generated over $5 billion in revenue from mobile platforms in China alone as of early 2025, was confirmed to be set in the same multiverse as the Honkai series.
The news is coming on the heels of Honkai: Star Rail Concert 2025: “Hope Is the Thing With Feathers,” a celebratory live event dedicated to the game’s second anniversary.
