  2. Nintendo Switch version 20.0.0 is clearly an update that prepares the Switch for the arrival of the Switch 2.
  3. The update was released on April 29, 2025.

Nintendo’s customer service has published a social media post acknowledging the reports it’s been receiving regarding the Switch’s recent update that has bricked the console of some users. It added that it is investigating possible ways to deal with the issue.

The translated post from Japanese reveals that Nintendo is investigating “Error Code: 2206-1015.” The company did not mention specifically what the error code is about; however, it apparently results in the console not functioning properly.

Multiple reports in different subreddits regarding their Nintendo Switches breaking have been spotted by outlets such as Nintendo Life, Game Rant and ComicBook. All of them mentioned the error code above, and all happened after they had updated their console. At the time of writing, Nintendo has no update regarding the situation and what users can do to fix their Switch.

Nintendo Switch version 20.0.0 is clearly an update that prepares the Switch for the arrival of the Switch 2. The update introduced GameShare and Virtual Game Cards, both of which were revealed during the Switch 2 Direct. A system transfer feature was also added to the console, which prepares users to transfer their system settings to the Switch 2 once it comes out.

However, Nintendo warned that users should only go with the option to transfer system settings using the internet, as this will reset the Switch back to its factory settings. If the user has the Switch 2 close to them, Nintendo advises them to use the local transfer instead.

The Nintendo Switch 20.0.0 update was released on April 29, 2025.
