- Originally scheduled to launch in Winter 2024, Sonic Rumble was reset to launch on May 2, 2025, before receiving another launch delay.
- Sega hasn’t provided a new date for the game’s launch.
- Sonic Rumble is developed by Sega’s Sonic Team in collaboration with Rovio, the studio behind Angry Birds.
Sega rescheduled Sonic Rumble’s global launch, which was originally slated for release in Winter 2024 and then moved to May 8, 2025.
The game, which officially opened pre-registration on both Android and iOS platforms back in late 2024, is now postponed again until further notice.
In a post on the game’s X (formerly Twitter) page, SEGA stated, “We want to create a game that evolves and stays fun for months and years to come. To build the kind of high-quality, long-lasting Sonic game our players deserve, we need more time.”
Sega’s Sonic Team is developing Sonic Rumble in collaboration with Rovio, the studio behind Angry Birds. The game takes place in a toy-themed world built by Sonic’s longtime foe, Dr. Eggman. In this multiplayer party title, players will race, compete, and battle across various arenas, all set to a soundtrack of iconic Sonic music.
Sonic Rumble will feature five gameplay modes:
- Run, where players just race to the finish,
- Survival, which makes players fight to stay in the game,
- Ring Battle, where the goal is to collect as many rings as possible,
- Quick Rumble mode will offer a fast, one-round challenge for quick play sessions,
- Rival Rank, which makes players compete for extra rewards.
