- Tekken 8 has seen a sharp drop in concurrent Steam players following the controversial Season 2 update.
- The game has dipped below its usual peak of over 6,000 daily players for the first time since its release.
- Tekken 8 has sold 3 million copies in a year after its release in January 2024, outpacing the sales performance of Tekken 7.
Tekken 8 has hit new lows of concurrent players on Steam due to the controversial Season 2 update. The decline comes despite band-aid fixes from the developers.
Less than a month into Season 2 and the addition of Anna Williams, Tekken 8 is experiencing new lows on Steam of 3,141 concurrent players. Also, the game has now dipped below its usual peak of over 6,000 daily players for the first time since its release.
According to the Tekken 8’s SteamDB page, the game has dropped below 6,000 players two days in a row. The title peaked at 5,742 players on April 29, 2025, and fell to an even lower peak of 5,716 players the day before.
It is worth noting that the chaos surrounding Tekken 8’s second season has driven modders to take matters into their own hands, creating a stripped-down version of the game. They’ve removed the Heat and Rage systems, along with armored and tracking moves, resulting in a cleaner experience focused purely on raw combat with no gimmicks.
This news is coming on the heels of Tekken 8’s achievement as the game has officially sold 3 million copies in a year after its release in January 2024, outpacing the sales performance of the seventh numbered part of the fighting series.
