Unity has announced the recipients of its 2025 Unity for Humanity Grant, selecting 10 winning projects and three honorable mentions from across nine countries. The grants, totaling $600,000, will support the development, prototyping, marketing and distribution of winning titles.

This year’s winners were selected based on their alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and were judged on vision, impact, inclusion and viability.

Jubilee Studios’ Small Talk ASL (US), an animated American Sign Language learning app, earned both the highest number of public votes and the Judges’ Choice Award.

Other winners:

  • Split Studio’s Tekoha: A Tale Among the Stars (Brazil) tells the story of two Indigenous sisters through a narrative RPG rooted in Guarani-Kaiowá culture, blending turn-based combat with themes of environmental and cultural resilience.
  • Boland Parwaz’s Dil ba Dil (Australia) confronts child and forced marriage through branching narratives where user choices shape the outcome.
  • World Ocean Observatory’s World Ocean Explorer (US) offers a browser-based 3D ocean exploration experience using real scientific data, already endorsed by the UN Decade of Ocean Science.
  • Dopay Films’ Sands of Time VR (Nigeria) casts players into a dystopian world to explore the devastating impact of sand mining.
  • Benvision Inc.’s Melody Meets Mobility (USA) helps blind individuals navigate environments using music-driven spatial audio.
  • Cure Bionics’ Prosthetics Beyond Borders (Tunisia) blends VR and AI to create customizable, interactive training for prosthetic users, especially in underserved regions.
  • XR Ireland’s ImmErgenSim (Ireland) develops extended reality-based emergency response simulations to train humanitarian teams globally.

Unity also introduced a Student Award category, recognizing two student-led initiatives: Rephobia Limited’s Phobia (Northern Ireland, UK), a VR therapy platform to help users confront phobias through guided exposure therapy, and RCareWorld by EmPRISE Lab, Cornell University (USA), a simulation platform designed for training robots in caregiving tasks for elderly or disabled individuals.

Three titles received honorable mentions this year:

  • Megapop’s Life Below (Norway), a coral reef ecosystem-building game combining ecological education with vibrant strategy gameplay
  • Birmingham City University’s ReelConnect (UK), a multiplayer stroke rehab game encouraging physical recovery through engaging movement-based play
  • Sami, a platformer that blends spiritual storytelling and mental health awareness through immersive, stylized exploration by Mr. iO Studios’ Sami (Peru).
