The success of Monster Hunter Wilds has prompted Capcom to adjust the earnings forecast it published a year ago. The studio’s fiscal year ended on March 31, 2025; however, it still has not finalized its finances, allowing for a forecast adjustment such as this.

Previously, Capcom predicted around JPY 165 billion ($1.16 billion), but that’s being changed to JPY 169.6 billion ($1.2 billion). According to Capcom, its other major game series have been enjoying steady popularity, which has resulted in great global sales. Arcade operations, the amusement equipment business, and other businesses are also doing great for Capcom.

On March 4, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Wilds is its fastest-selling game. It sold 8 million copies in just three days after its release. A month later, it had sold more than 10 million copies.

When interviewed about the game’s success, Ryozo Tsujimoto, the producer of the Monster Hunter series, said he believes that one of the main contributing factors was the game’s story. Monster Hunter games typically did not have any storyline; however, Monster Hunter Wilds was a departure from this.

Monster Hunter Wilds was released on February 28, 2025. It reached a peak concurrent player count of 1.3 million players on Steam. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
