On April 23, Ubisoft announced that it’s developing a new trading card game utilizing the Might & Magic universe, called Might & Magic Fates TCG. While the game still has no release date, the frequently asked questions (FAQ) segment of the website describes it as “coming out soon.”

Might & Magic Fates TCG is a free-to-play card game for Android and iOS where players build decks and use creatures, spells, artifacts, buildings and heroes from different Might & Magic factions to claim victory. However, one thing that sets it apart from popular trading card games like Magic Arena and Hearthstone is the ability to trade.

Buried deep in the website’s FAQ, it mentions that players will have the ability to trade their cards using blockchain technology. Aside from trading, players can also claim digital ownership of their own cards.

The developers want to clarify that this Web3 capability is optional and that it offers no competitive advantage. “Might & Magic Fates is a free-to-play card game at its core,” the FAQ segment regarding Web3 mentioned.

This is not Ubisoft’s first foray into the world of Web3. In October 2024, Ubisoft launched Champion Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, which is a competitive multiplayer turn-based RPG. Players will have to go to the game’s marketplace to buy the pieces that they’re going to use in-game, which are technically NFTs.
