Nintendo Reminds Fans: Mario Kart World Tour Console Bundle Ends Production This Fall

During the Mario Kart World Direct on April 17, Nintendo included a footnote saying “Limited-time production through Fall 2025 (available while supplies last)” while showing the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle. This means that the company will stop producing more of this product, and fans will have to buy the console and the game separately.
The bundle is a great way to save money if fans plan to buy Mario Kart World. The Switch 2 by itself costs $450, and Mario Kart World costs $80 for a digital copy and up to $90 for a physical copy. The bundle only costs $500, which saves the buyer around $30.
Nintendo did not provide a set date as to when they will discontinue the bundle. However, GameSpot commented that stopping its production in the Fall might mean it won’t be available during the Christmas holidays, as long as scalpers haven’t gotten to it first.
Speaking of scalping, Nintendo has announced that their anti-scalping strategy is to simply produce a lot of Switch 2 consoles so that there won’t be any shortages, forcing fans to turn to scalpers for their consoles. Japanese retailers are also asking Nintendo fans for ideas on how to battle scalpers, and people in the U.S. are already doing their best to report eBay listings selling the Switch 2 at a high price.
The Switch 2 is slated for release on June 5. Analysts are expecting the launch of the console as the biggest in video game history. Pre-order invitations for the console in Canada and the U.S. will be sent out on May 8.
