Alolan Raichu Glides to Battle in Pokémon Unite Today

|
- Alolan Raichu joins Pokémon Unite’s roster today.
- The Pokémon is a ranged AoE damage dealer with enough mobility to kite out of danger.
- Alolan Raichu has some similarities to League of Legends’ Syndra because its Electro Ball interacts with its other abilities.
Alolan Raichu joins the roster of playable Pokémons in Pokémon Unite today. Its role is revealed to be a ranged area-of-effect damage dealer with lots of potential burst damage due to its kit.
The Pokémon’s passive gives it an edge in a game where positioning and kiting matter. Surge Surfer allows Alolan Raichu to use basic attacks while moving and even dash after it fires a boosted basic attack or uses a move.
Quite interestingly, it has Electro Ball as one of its moves, and it has similarities with how Syndra from League of Legends interacts with her Dark Spheres. For example, Alolan Raichu can put Electro Balls down and use other moves to trigger them and have them explode, dealing AoE damage.
His ultimate, Thunderstorm Aerial, slows all Pokémons in its AoE, giving Alolan Raichu ample time to move around and hit them or to simply set up Electro Balls and have them obliterate the enemy team.
If the player wants to play at a distance and utilize Alolan Raichu’s full kiting potential, they may choose Stored Power instead of Electro Ball. This move will increase Alolan Raichu’s attack speed and give its next six basic attacks additional damage.
Pokémon Unite is a multiplayer online battle arena available on the Nintendo Switch and mobile phones. Players are grouped into two teams of five Pokémons and will fight each other. The team with the highest score wins. The game was released in 2021.
