Riot Games Details Strategies to Mitigate Intentional Feeding in League of Legends

|
- Riot Games is updating their intentional feeding detection system in League of Legends.
- The exact updates to detection are not being publicized as to prevent avid inters from exploiting the system.
- Player report feedback will now show the name of the offender.
During a developer’s vlog for the upcoming League of Legends season, Riot representatives Drew Levin, also known as Capybara, and Matt Leung-Harrison, also known as Riot Phroxzon, detailed the upcoming changes to the intentional feeding detection system – a feature that many League of Legends players exploit.
“When you have someone inting, griefing, or running it down for fun, it just sucks. So we’re rolling out some updated systems that will better detect and punish people who want to ruin your games,” Capybara shared.
“Starting next patch, we’ll have improvements to our griefing detection systems that automatically identify and punish players for soft inting and trolling teammates,” Riot Phroxzon said. But in order to prevent inting on a wider scale, Riot is not going to share exactly what this system looks for – but “it’s built to detect things, like running around and not contributing to avoid AFK detection, for example.”
They did mention a specific change, catered towards being communicative and clairvoyant with the community. When you receive report feedback, which usually indicates that a player you reported was punished, the report will now include the summoner name of the offender – providing the reporter with a sense of justice.
“We’ll continue to update this system over time, and we’ll talk about it again in another dev update.” Phroxzon said, concluding the discussion regarding intentional feeding in League of Legends.
Intentional feeding and griefing are pervasive issues in League of Legends. Toxic players have grown intimately familiar with the detection system, resulting in players cheating the system by successfully avoiding blatant triggers to effectively ruin the game for others without any in-game repercussion.
