Key points
  1. Tekken 8 modders created a mod called “Good Ass Tekken” removing the Tekken 8’s heat and rage systems.
  2. The modder’s vision is to turn Tekken 8 into something similar to Tekken 5.
  3. Tekken 8’s season 2 changes have garnered negative feedback from top players and content creators of the game.

The mess that is Tekken 8’s second season has prompted Tekken 8 modders to take action and fix the game by stripping the game of the heat and rage systems, as well as armored moves and tracking moves. This essentially creates a new version of the game without any gimmicks and just two characters throwing hands.

The mod is titled “Good Ass Tekken,” and is being worked on by KulaGGin. It can only be downloaded from the Fight Club Discord channel. According to them, the main purpose of the mod is to turn Tekken 8 into something similar to Tekken 5. “The general idea is to have a well-balanced game where all moves have good risk-reward and not too big of a reward. So no 150-damage combos and launchers that lead to them.”

Tekken 8’s season 2 patch was all kinds of disaster for the development team over at Bandai Namco Entertainment. Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique, considered the best Tekken player in the world, has voiced his frustration about the game’s state.

Bae “Knee” Jae-Minm, also one of the best Tekken players in the world, joins this ensemble by publishing a long post on Twitter detailing what he thinks is wrong with the current patch. He specifically mentions that the game is starting to cater towards rookies and that the possibility of veteran players losing to rookies is very high, despite veterans spending a lot of time and effort to learn the game.

Phi “PhiDX” Lam, a professional Tekken 8 player and now content creator, has even released a video that explains why he’s stepping away from competitive Tekken 8 in Season 2. According to him, learning Tekken 8 season 2’s style will make him a bad Tekken player in the future due to the focus on aggression.

Tekken 8’s Season 2 was released on April 1, 2025. The changes have been badly received by the community and resulted in the review bombing of the game on Steam.
