AMD Announce Ryzen 8000HX series with Codename Dragon Range Refresh

AMD quietly dropped the Ryzen 8000HX series – codenamed Dragon Range Refresh. The CPUs are used primarily in AMD’s highest performance laptop line.
This series of CPUs comes in four Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), with the flagship marketed one being the Ryzen 9 8945HX – which has 16 Zen 4 cores and boosts up to 5.4 GHz.

All the various SKUs are catered towards high-end gaming platforms. Gamers can expect fast laptop CPUs that are essentially power-limited versions of desktop processors.
A writer at TechSpot speculates that gaming laptops “featuring the refreshed Dragon Range CPUs could appear soon, but new US tariffs may complicate the launch of high-end laptops.”
Raze and Framework reportedly paused preorders for new laptops after Trump’s sporadic tariff adjustments, as China is one of the primary distributors for components necessary in laptop hardware.
