Reikon Games released their Metal Eden playtest demo on April 8, 2025. The demo allows players to experience two missions from the game, and is available for Playstation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X/S.
Players control a character known as ASKA, a hyper unit built upon a digitised human psyche, designed to save and protect humanity from “the captivity of the Engineers.” Upon death, she can stream her consciousness back to the NEXUS – allowing ASKA to be rebuilt and try again.
The title was first teased during Sony’s State of Play for 2025, where they revealed a myriad of different game releases. Developed by Reikon Games and published by Deepsilver, Metal Eden appears to be inspired by Doom Eternal – at least in regards to gameplay. In essence, the player must platform efficiently while simultaneously shooting down the enemy.
Metal Eden is a single player adrenaline-rush sci-fi first person shooter, officially releasing on May 6, 2025. Reikon Games, the studio responsible for Metal Eden’s development, is an independent video game studio that specializes in “artistic action adventures set in haunting science-fiction realities, embracing the cybernetic dimension of life.” Their most notable game title is RUINER, which is also a shooter but featured an isometric point of view.
