On April 4, a live-action trailer for the game Mewgenics has popped up on IGN’s YouTube channel, and it’s truly a bizarre one. Mewgenics was first announced in 2012 in a now-deleted blog post.

Edmund McMillen, the creator of the Binding of Isaac, considers the trailer a teaser. It follows the lives of the Jones family, who can’t produce a child. This led to them adopting two cats that weren’t spayed or neutered. One thing led to another, and they ended up with many cats.

This made their house very messy, which led to their annoyance. The family then thought of ways to get rid of them but didn’t have the heart to do it because they’ve named each of them and they thought of them as cute. After this point, the trailer showed a little bit of gameplay.

The game will be turn-based, will have abilities, and have a lot of cats. Looking at the game’s Steam page revealed more information. There’s going to be more than 200 hours of gameplay, more than 6 classes, and tons of unique NPC with quests, among other things. The game also has a mature content description as it includes a lot of violence, swearing, and innuendos.

Mewgenics is being developed by Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel. The two have teamed up before in Aether, The End is Nigh, and The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls. According to Mewgenics’ Steam page, the game will be released this year.
