Nvidia claims their GPU, which is used in the upcoming Switch 2, boosts the console’s graphical performance to 10x of the original Nintendo Switch. According to them, the high-tech GPU utilizes dedicated RT and Tensor Cores alongside AI-driven enhancements – which push the graphical capacities of the Nintendo Switch 2.
The tensor cores use Nvidia’s Deep Learning super Sampling (DLSS) to boost resolution for sharper details without “sacrificing image quality.” The Nintendo Switch 2 will undoubtedly boast better visuals than its predecessor, but many media outlets remain skeptical regarding the “10x the graphics performance” statement.
Nvidia made a similar claim when marketing the RTX 5070, where they made an outlandish claim with no backing. In the case of the RTX 5070, Nvidia stated that the 5070 would match the power of the 4090 at a fraction of the cost— a claim that reviewers found to be completely false.
The Nintendo Switch 2 allows for 4k gaming in docked mode, while boasting 120 frames per second at 1080p in handheld mode. Nvidia’s DLSS undoubtedly plays a large role in the handheld’s improved performance, but whether or not it will truly provide 10x graphics performance when compared to its predecessor remains to be seen. As for its battery capacity, the Switch 2 is rumored to be less efficient than its parent console.
