Nintendo Unveils Game Lineup for Nintendo Switch 2, with Mario Kart World at the Helm

The Nintendo Switch 2 game lineup was announced at the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 livestream on April 4, 2025.

Mario Kart World was the first game announced. The title is coming exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, featuring 24 drivers in one race. More details will be revealed during Nintendo Direct dedicated to Mario Kart World on April 17, 2025.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom get Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, both launching for Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025 with improved graphics, framerate and smartphone navigation.

The new game, Drag x Drive, which can be played with mouse controls, is coming in the summer of 2025.

Updates for Super Mario Party Jamboree were announced, including the game mode with the newly presented Nintendo Switch camera. The game is coming on July 24, 2025.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is officially coming in 2025. The game was first announced at E3 2017, originally in development under Bandai Namco. However, in January 2019, the project was restarted with Retro Studios—developers of the previous Metroid Prime titles—taking over. Kensuke Tanabe, who produced all prior Prime games, also returned to lead the project as producer.

Developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, a new title in the Pokémon franchise, is coming later in 2025.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment new entry to the Hyrule Warriors series, is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2. It’s the third installment in the spin-off series, with the original Hyrule Warriors released in 2014 and Age of Calamity in 2020.

On top of that Nintendo Switch Online gets another tier of subscription, which adds Nintendo Gamecube games to the library.

Earlier this year, Electronic Arts (EA) CEO Andrew Wilson stated that the publisher is considering bringing some of its top franchises, such as FC, Madden, and The Sims, to Nintendo’s Switch 2. Additionally, in late January 2025, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, confirmed that Xbox games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, naming titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

It is worth noting that a few days ago, on Thursday, March 27, 2025, Nintendo held another Nintendo Direct event dedicated to the release dates of multiple games upcoming for Nintendo Switch in 2025. At the same event 30-minute long live-stream, Nintendo also teased for release in 2025 without an actual date Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, King of Meat, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Witchbrook, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots and Dragon Quest I & II HD Remakes. On top of that, Rhythm Heaven Groove and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, in their turn, were announced for 2026.
