Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Will Not Have A Mini-Map According to the Game’s Producer

- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will not have a mini-map because the developers do not want the players to rely on it too much.
- There will be a compass and an overview of the entire game map.
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will be available on April 24 for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game will also be on Xbox Game Pass.
According to Sandfall Interactive COO Francois Meurisse, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will not have mini-maps. He added that the developers want the players to discover the world “as the expedition does it.”
This information came from Eurogamer’s Ed Nightingale who talked to Meurisse at the Game Developers Conference (GDC). According to Meurisse, another reason they opted not to include a mini-map is because players may end up relying on it.
Despite the game not having a mini-map, the developers confirmed that there will be an overview map of the world. There will also be a compass, but not similar to something like Skyrim where icons pop up. Meurisse clarified that the compass will only be there for players to “find their north easily.”
An upcoming game called Hell Is Us will feature something similar. The game will not have any quest markers or guided paths as the developers think that their approach to the game will make it intuitive for the players to know where they are supposed to go next.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is slated for release on April 24 for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass. While the game is still not released, there is already news about the game having a live-action film in the works.
