Dune: Awakening Will Offer Optional Paid DLCs But No Subscription Fees

On March 21, Dune: Awakening developers revealed that the game’s upcoming May 20 release will not have subscription fees. Optional paid DLCs will be included in the game, however.
The survival MMO’s developers promised that the game will be fully functional at its release. This means that the game will not enter any early access phase and will contain all the features at launch. Additionally, there will also be free updates that contain new content, features, and enhancements added to the game as the game lives its live-service life.
The developers have also released a post regarding the PC specifications needed to run the game. Dune: Awakening also has a benchmark tool available in its Steam page that players can use to further test if their machine can handle the game. Pre-orders of the game will go up on March 24.
Funcom, the developers of Dune: Awakening, has been handling various live-service games since 2001. Their oldest MMORPG, Anarchy Online, was released 2001 and is still up after more than two decades. Anarchy Online’s final expansion was released in 2006 called Lost Eden.
Dune: Awakening is an MMO with survival mechanics set to release on May 20. The game will be made using Unreal Engine 5 and will be available in the PC first with Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions still being planned.
