  3. The pack introduces Pokemon and trainers from the Paldea region.

Pokemon TCG Pocket is releasing a brand new themed booster pack: “Shining Revelry.” The new pack introduces iconic Shiny Pokemon into the game on March 27 – or March 26 at 10:00 PDT exact. This new pack also introduces trainers and Pokemon hailing from the Paldea region.

Shiny Pokemon in the mainline series are incredibly rare variants that are essentially mutations – their encounter rate used to be less than 0.1% in the old titles. The recolored Pokemon in the mainline titles have nothing different from their original counterparts excluding the color of their skin.

But in Pokemon TCG Pocket, it appears the Shiny pokemon are completely separate cards from their non-shiny counterparts. They will likely have the same drop rates per usual, as they really are completely separate cards from the preexisting Pokemon for all intents and purposes.

This is indicated by Shiny EX Charizard’s moves, which are distinct from the original EX Charizard’s moves. The original EX Charizard discarded energy, while the Shiny one actually moves energy from the bench – thereby providing a completely different play style. The same analysis can be made of Lucario, whose Shiny variant is an EX rather than a normal Pokemon.

The release of this new pack will undoubtedly shake up the meta. Once the pack releases, PokemonMeta will have the most updated stats for PvP matches – which helps with meta analysis and targeted pack pulling.
