During GDC 2025, Microsoft presented a promotional image for a mockup user interface. Within the image was a small tab that hinted towards potential Steam support on Xbox. Here is the mentioned picture:

The rectangular television screen has “Steam” written on one of the tabs, leading gamers to speculate that Steam will be supported on future Xbox consoles. This is purely speculation at this point in time – Microsoft has not yet responded to the information present, thereby neither confirming or denying the proposition.
Shortly after the image was made public, Microsoft attempted to remove it from the public eye. The image has since been circulating the internet. The Verge states that Microsoft is currently developing their Xbox App to showcase all PC games owned – but it is very uncertain whether the function will finalize and be shipped.
Microsoft is reportedly developing a new Xbox-branded handheld gaming device set for late 2025, alongside a next-generation Xbox console planned for 2027. The handheld Xbox gaming console is currently codenamed “Keenan,” and will be the first ever official Xbox gaming handheld.
