Rise of Ronin PC Issues Persist as Players Lose Save Files

The PC port of Rise of Ronin is currently suffering from save file deletion as reported by players who have encountered the issue. According to players, they received an error code after closing the game and the next time they tried to play, the save file was gone.
Koei Tecmo acknowledged the bug and posted a few remedies that players can try to recover their deleted save files. This includes tinkering around the save data location, turning off the “Documents” folder’s file sharing options, and activating Steam Cloud. The developers explained that they’re still investigating the issue.
Rise of Ronin’s PC port has been plagued with problems since day one. The developers promised exclusive features for the Steam version of the game including 120 FPS and 8K resolution support.
However, on launch, players have complained that the game feels stuttery and has inconsistent frame rates even for players with high-end PCs. According to one Steam user, the game is stuttering on an RTX 4090 and the only way to fix the stutters is to cap the game at 60 FPS. Due to these problems, the game currently has a mixed review score on Steam.
Rise of Ronin’s was released on the PlayStation 5 in March 2024. The game has a 76/100 score from Metacritic making it a generally favorable game. Its PC version only received a 73/100 on Metacritic due to its technical problems. Rise of Ronin’s PC version was released on March 11, 2025.
