- A new Famiboards code posting potentially reveals the production of a GameCube controller for the Switch 2.
- The product code is BEE-021 – the ‘BEE’ prefix is widely accepted as a code correlating with the Switch 2.
- Famiboards’ label location display parallels that of the GameCube controller’s.
A newly discovered product code and hardware label posting on Famiboards suggest that Nintendo may be developing a GameCube-style controller for the upcoming Switch 2. The speculation is fueled by the code BEE-021, which aligns with previous leaks associated with the next-generation console.
The product code is BEE-021 – the prefix ‘BEE’ has been widely accepted by the leaks community as correlating with the Switch 2, therefore gamers are speculating that the product will be a controller that is currently in development. The famiboard posting also had a “Label Location” displayed, which supposedly matches up with the back of the GameCube controller – this is essentially where the C-stick is located.

The product has been ruled out of being a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller due to the lack of NFC functionality, a feature that is speculated to return to the Pro Controller. In addition, the upcoming controller is said to have Bluetooth compatibility. This means the GameCube controller for the Switch 2 could potentially have wireless capabilities.
Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and Nintendo Wii all had GameCube controller compatibility. Thanks to its unique design language, the controller has become a staple among Super Smash Bros – with many gamers preferring the two decade old controller over contemporary counterparts.
The Nintendo Switch 2 currently has no confirmed release date, but it is slated to launch some time in 2025. As for its initial market price, analysts are saying the console will debut at a “price of $400 or more,” but nothing has been officially confirmed.
