Stampede: Racing Royale is being discontinued in summer, around two years after the game debuted in early access. The news was revealed on March 12, stating that the game will be discontinued in around three months. This announcement was revealed prior to the game’s season 1 celebration.
According to the devs, the shutdown is due to a variety of unexpected events.
“Live support for our free-to-play kart racing game on Steam and Xbox will cease later this year. Server availability and wider support for the game will end in approximately three months’ time – an exact end date will be confirmed in due course,” they shared in the official Steam blog.
Until the closing date, which has not been specified, Stampede plans on continuing its usual update cycle – rotating out events, content, and other additional features.
SteamDB revealed the player stats for the live service title for the specific platform, which hit a peak of 238 players during its first week of early access launch. As of March, Stampede: Racing Royal averages 22 players on Steam. The game supports cross-platform play, allowing users from Xbox and PC to play together.
