According to Yoshida, the patch will bring new gameplay mechanics besides just continuing to expand on FFXIV’s ongoing story. One of the major features in Patch 7.2 is the introduction of Arcadion floors, which are set to be more distinct than their predecessors. The game’s director also revealed that bosses will focus on quick, intricate gimmicks, some of which will even involve a “dance theme.”
Beyond the battles, Patch 7.2 also promises new exploration content, with the Crescent Island zone as a major highlight, offering a mix between Bozja and Eureka.
On top of that, Patch 7.2 introduces the Cosmic Exploration system. A mix of Ishgard Restoration and Island Exploration, it will offer the opportunity to build and expand a spaceship launching base while exploring different planets.
In terms of quality-of-life features, Patch 7.2 brings a change that allows players to mount while moving, making navigation through FFXIV’s vast cities faster and more fluid. Additionally, sprinting will now be followed by a “jog” status in safe areas, ensuring smoother transitions between high-speed movement and a more relaxed pace.
