Ori Series Surpasses 15 Million Copies Sold

The Ori series has officially crossed the 15 million copies sold mark. The news was shared by Moon Studios’ co-founder, CEO, and Creative Director, Thomas Mahler, via a post on social media.
“Not too shabby for a Metroidvania and a genre we were told is dead when we started to work on it!” reflected Mahler, sharing Moon Studios’ achievement.
Ori and the Blind Forest debuted in 2015. In the game, players take on the role of Ori, a small white spirit, and Sein, the “light and eyes” of the Forest’s Spirit Tree.
With the visual style meant to appear hand-drawn, Ori and the Blind Forest was named as a title that represented art in video games. On top of that, the game got critical acclaim, won eight industry awards in different categories and earned an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam at the time of writing, with a total number of reviews of 57,721.
The 2020 direct sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps maintained narrative continuity with Blind Forest, following the journey of the series’ main character, Ori, in a new region called Niwen. The game gathered critical acclaim as well as its predecessor, won five industry awards in different categories and at the time of writing, it featured an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam with 125,176 total number of reviews.
Both Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps are available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
