Sony Brings Their PlayStation 5 Rental Scheme Over to The U.K.

- Sony brings the PlayStation 5 rental service that proved popular in Japan over to the UK.
- Gamers are able to rent PlayStation 5 consoles for as low as £10.99 per month.
- The rental service was very popular in Japan resulting in the service being fully booked.
Gamers in the United Kingdom can now rent PlayStation 5 consoles from Sony through Raylo. The prices range from £10.99 per month for the digital-only model of PlayStation 5 to £18.95 for the PlayStation 5 Pro.
Sony partnered with Raylo to be able to bring this service over to the UK. According to the lease page that PlayStation put up, gamers are able to rent a few other things aside from PlayStation 5 consoles. PlayStation VR2 and PlayStation Portals are also available for lease. More so, the PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle is also available.
The Raylo page for PlayStation 5 rentals only has a maximum of two controllers available for rent. They are bundled with the console with no option to increase the number of controllers they want to rent. The DualSense Edge Wireless Controller is available to rent separately.
Prices for the device rental can be as high as £21.95 per month for the digital-only PlayStation 5 if the renter opts for a monthly rolling plan. The longer the lease term, the lower the monthly price. For example, a 36-month lease of the same device will amount to £10.99 per month. This, of course, does not include the game that the renter wants to play.
A similar rental scheme was launched in Japan on February 28. The rental service proved to be very popular as the service was fully booked on March 6. According to Automaton Media, one of the main plausible reasons for this is the release of Monster Hunter Wilds. They also mentioned that Japanese people who rented a PlayStation 5 were very happy with the console which resulted in them buying their own console.
