Battlefield Labs celebrated their first playtest on March 7, allowing players to experience an early version of the next title for two hours. Shortly after the playtest, gameplay of the beta test spread like wildfire.
CharlieIntel shared the gameplay leak on X – the footage showcases a tank driving through battle, eventually blowing up after being shot up. Other leaked footage teases the destruction of environments, a returning feature from prior games.
Battlefield Labs provides early access to a small group of participants – the experience is invite only. The official Battlefields Labs website has instructions on how to sign up. Those who gained access to a previous Battlefields Labs playtest automatically gain access for subsequent playtest as well. The playtest is open to players in Europe and North America only.
As of the end of 2024, the Battlefield franchise had sold approximately 90 million units worldwide. Battlefield 2042, the most recent installment in the franchise, was met with mixed to negative reception upon release. It was criticized for the lack of content at launch, numerous bugs, and an unstable experience.
