Deadlock’s Latest Update Says Farewell To The Game’s Four Lanes

|
- Deadlock’s latest update removes the fourth lane in the game in favor of the three-lane standard in MOBAs.
- Alongside this, the major patch touched a lot of parts of the game across the board.
- Deadlock is still in early development with no release date in sight.
The latest update that dropped on Valve’s Deadlock has removed the fourth lane and will stick to the traditional three-lane setups that’s customary to most, if not all, MOBAs. This update was posted on February 26.
Valve themselves called the update the “Map Rework Update”. According to the lengthy patch note, the dev team has redesigned the map around three lanes rather than 4. This means that some of the pathways, neutral camps, air vents, and breakables are also being moved around, among other things.
Soul Orb Mechanics have been changed too. Previously, players needed to last-hit troopers in order to generate souls. With the new patch, soul orbs are always produced during the death of Troopers. However, the lifetime of the soul orbs being in the air is reduced significantly.
Flex spot requirements have also received changes. The first flex slot is unlocked after taking down two Guardians. The second flex slow will be opened after taking down 1 Walker. The rest of the flex slot requirements aren’t changed. To balance this out, Walkers have had their HPs adjusted.
The patch notes have also included buffs and nerfs to heroes, localization support, controller support, and optimizations across the board. Overall, this patch will definitely take players a little bit of adjusting to.
Deadlock is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena developed by Valve. It was first revealed in August 2024 when The Verge published a piece about it. That same month, Valve published its Steam store page and gave everyone a chance to participate in the alpha. Valve still considers the game in early development with no release date in sight.
