“More than 40% of all time spent playing on PS5/XBS in the US during January went to those same top 10 live service games.”  Mat Piscatella continued.

The exact ten live-service games were not revealed – but the list undoubtedly contains Fortnite, Marvel Rivals, Call of Duty, GTA V, and Minecraft.

The statistics indicate an increased prevalence of triple A live-service games – a sentiment the CEO of EA would undoubtedly agree with. The statistics suggest that lesser-known titles face challenges in gaining traction, as the top 10 live service games maintain a strong hold on their established player base.

Though the stats presented here are specifically for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series S|X, the trend rings true on mobile games as well. Preexisting, already established titles are soaking up the majority of the revenue in the industry, with new titles struggling to break the barrier of entry.
