Development studio Camouflaj is releasing an update for Batman: Arkham Shadow on February 27. Revealed in a video trailer, the update adds four new challenge maps, a new Extreme Difficulty setting, and a Permadeath Mode.
Here are all the new Batman: Arkham Shadow Challenge Maps being added:
- Stalking Tyger (Inspired by “Silent Knight” from Arkhum Asylum)
- Architect of Fear (Inspired by “Natural Selection” from Arkham City)
- Quiet Reflection (Inspired by “Quiet Waters” from Arkham Origins)
- Crane’s Nightmare (Inspired by “Scarecrow Nightmare” from Arkham Asylum)
The challenge maps were inspired by preexisting maps that debuted in previous Arkham games – and therefore should ring a familiar bell for long time fans of the franchise. As for the New Extreme Difficulty, this option is said to “push your limits in story mode.”
The Knight Permadeath Mode in Arkham Shadow is exactly as it sounds – the game shows no mercy for mistakes. Dying once marks game over for the player.
Released in December 2024, Batman: Arkham Shadow received the Best VR/AR award at the annual Game Awards. It has sold over a million copies worldwide. The game was developed by Camouflag and Occulus in partnership with Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. Games shut down three development studios, including Monolith Productions—the studio behind the now-canceled Wonder Woman game.
