Key points

  1. Audio director Nassim Ait-Kaci was supposedly laid off from Skeleton Key.
  2. Skeleton Key’s unannounced project was cancelled.
  3. Wizards of the Coast made no public statement regarding the cancellation.

Audio director Nassim Ait-Kaci wrote on LinkedIn that he is open for work following the recent cancellation of their unannounced project – indicating his potential layoff from Skeleton Key.

“I sympathize with all my peers and former colleagues subject to the same misfortune,” he said, likely referring to other laid off colleagues. No other information has been revealed regarding layoffs.

Neither Wizards of the Coast, the parent company of Skeleton Key, nor Skeleton Key have provided an update on the matter. Skeleton Key’s last social media update was in 2023.

As Skeleton Key moves forward with the development of unannounced AAA horror titles, the studio was expected to expand its workforce. A quick look at their official website indicates no open jobs, which is atypical for a studio developing AAA games.

Skeleton Key was created with the goal of creating immersive gameplay, unique stories, and thought-provoking moments of suspense and horror. It was conceived in 2022 with ambitious goals, headed by Christian Dailey, former Dragon-Age producer with 30 years of experience in the games industry. The studio’s first game title was never announced.
